Early Childhood Teacher Job Questions & Answers

I am an early childhood teacher heading to the UK hopefully in June/July 2009. I know that school holiday's coming up so I won't be able to teach, therefore I have to look for a summer job to keep my cash flowing until September when schools start again. Who looks after the children during the holidays? Are nannies in high demand in between July and September? if they pay 80 pounds a week, is that amount before or after tax ?

My mum has been fostering special needs children since I was 8, I'm now 18. I love what she does. I love special needs children, I think they are gorgeous. One of our fostered boys is in the special needs class at school. I love his teachers, I think they do an awesome job with him and all the other kids and I think I want to be a teacher in the special education unit at a primary school. What qualifications would I need? Thank you.

Hi everyone! I started teaching last year and my first class was a prep! This year I will be working on a class full time that has 5 students between the ages of 5-8 all with intellectual disabilities. Can anyone give me some ideas on where to start? Some of my questions are: 1. What should a 'normal' day look like? 2. What kind of jobs should they be doing? 3. Ideas for morning routine or 'circle time' 4. Good (preferably Australian) websites with printable resources 5. Ideas on setting up the classroom Any ideas would be very much appreciated :) Sophie

I am 22 and have put off choosing a career because I am afraid I will choose the wrong one. However, the time has come to get on with it. A number of family members have told me that I would make a good pre-school teacher and so this is now what i am considering. I guess that essentially what I would like to do is prep children to cope at school, with their education, self-esteem and other children. Should I choose this path for myself? Are there any pre-school teachers reading this? If so, what made you want to become one? Can you tell me the pros and cons of your job please. Is it a job that you can do until you retire?
